Emerson is passionate about always learning so that he can give back to his community through a career in public service. His legal education builds on prior studies at Calvin University, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College, and the Michigan Political Leadership Program.
Government Affairs Professional
Emerson spent over five years working in state and local government before returning to academia. As a staffer in the Michigan Legislature, he handled legislative policy, constituent services, and campaign management.
Collaborator in Indian Country
After law school, Emerson plans to work in Indian Country as a legal advisor for tribal governments and Indigenous communities. His education is paired with significant professional experience supporting Native interests, ranging from economic development to institutional governance.
