Emerson currently works as the Legislative Director for Republican Vice Chair of Appropriations Sarah Lightner in the Michigan House of Representatives. Previously, he executed various legislative, communications, and campaign roles while working for State Senator Mark Huizenga. He graduated from Calvin University with a double major in both Political Science and Interdisciplinary Studies in Business, Sociology, & Philosophy. During his studies, he served his peers as Student Body President and interned in Congress. Since then, he graduated from the Michigan Political Leadership Program and began pursuing a Native American Studies degree at the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College. Emerson anticipates attending law school and subsequently pursuing a career partnering with Tribal Nations of the Great Lakes on matters of government affairs, legal representation, and economic development.
